Soul Eater - 27

Cool episode, and Justin Law is awesome. He’s definitely my favorite of all the deathscythes. Soul is right to suddenly get attacked by inferiority complex. A new character is also introduced, and she happens to be Medusa’s sister… or at least that’s what she says. And if Medusa’s a snake, she’s a spider (or millions of it). Pretty cool.

Stein is researching about the golem, and he reaches the conclusion that it has something to do with Arachne, who had dispersed her body into millions of spiders and had scattered it all throughout the world. She would be obviously be someone who would be affected by the insanity the Kishin released.
Maka, Soul and Chrona (and Ragnarok) are having a difficult time dealing with Giriko. The Golem attacks Maka with web-like substances that causes her body to be paralyzed. A woman (Arachne) reveals herself when millions of spiders merge together. She says she knows everything because of her spiders (she knows who burnt the curry!) and she recognizes Chrona as her niece. Chrona, who had been panicking because she says Arachne has the same wavelength as Medusa, is pushed into a fight with Giriko. She stands no chance and is just about to be beheaded when someone steps in - Justin Law! Justin kicks ass (and Soul is being an emo because he realizes he can’t fight without Maka, unlike Justin), but Arachne soon decides to retreat, leaving the golem behind to buy time. Because Justin’s priority is to protect Shibusen students, he lets them retreat and deals with the Golem.
Maka still can’t move, so they put her in the coffin that Justin had brought. They decide to get her checked by a doctor when they get back to Shibusen, and Chrona offers her flowers, making it seem like a real funeral. At the same time, Arachne and Giriko are introduced to a crowd of people, who appear to be Arachne’s followers.

Impressions: Justin is awesome. He kicks ass and knows how to piss off his enemies. He was pretending to not understand Giriko because of his earphones… turned out, he could read lips anyway. Anyway, if I were him, I really would have just pretended the same way, because Giriko’s pretty annoying. I don’t know why someone as cool as Arachne would put up with him, but she does. Poor, poor Arachne.
I like how Justin is able to fight for himself, but I wonder how Soul would be able to do that? Honestly, I don’t see the point of a meister if all the weapons could do that. I also feel bad for Chrona, she had looked so strong when she was on the ‘other side’. As usual, when antagonists change sides, they also lose some of their cool factor.

Yeah, his eyes are empty. It’s a bit freaky, but they’re also really sharp and it makes him look cooler as a character.
