Soul Eater - 33

It was a nice dramatic episode that got the character development moving past ’silly’, but at the start of the episode, I couldn’t help but wonder if I missed a couple of episodes because I couldn’t tell what was going on. I’m not sure if it was because I put off watching this episode for a couple of days, but I’m pretty sure the last episode had Excalibur in it. Wait, no, I’m sure. Maybe it was mentioned the episode before that one that there was going to be group training? And what hurt even more is that the episode started with some heat between Maka and Black Star already, I don’t remember where that came from. My memory might be acting up - someone please help me, argh.

But I do like how Black Star has no problem about hitting Maka and fighting with her as an equal. Honestly, I think she deserved it, she was acting like a brat this episode (why is she the leader again?). Kid just stayed in the sidelines this episode, but I never really thought of him as the kind of character that would ever participate in a serious quarrel.
Anyway, the three of them look like they’ll make a pretty good team. I think that’s all I can say for now.

The Team Soul Resnonace, or Duel Arts was mention back in ep 29 (which was the episode Medusa came back), and what happening on the beginning of Ep was Stein was going nuts Kishin’s Wavelength.
As far the fight between Maka and B*S, I think your being a little unfair to Maka. Yes, she was somewhat childish in this episode, but so was B*S. He definitely played apart in screwing up the training and fact he didn’t care about it frustrated her to no end. Stein was going to cut them from his classes and other missions if they didn’t get it right afterall, so he would drag them all down by being a jerk about. In the end she realized her fault in the lesson as well and let B*S pay her back for hitting him earlier even through she didn’t have to. This is something B*S to arrogrant to ever do unless Tsubaki in her rare moments makes him like she did in this ep. So, yeah they both errored and later came somewhat better understanding of each other.
As for why she’s the Team Leader, it’s pretty obivious, 1.) She’s most intelligent and logical of 3, 2.) She only one any head for tactics, 3.) After after lesson she showed Stein she can just adjust well people around her even if her Wavelength doesn’t match that well with another in this B*S and 4.) the Kid and B*S have way too many issues to lead anyone.

Iron Maw:
Oh, thanks for pointing out when it started. Seriously, I have a bad memory especially if I haven’t seen it in a few weeks.
And, yeah, I guess I might’ve been unfair to Maka. Sorry about that. I guess it was only because it irked me a bit to see her keep telling B*S to ‘be serious’, and it just came off like she was nagging him without really know what was on his mind. But, I guess it was also out of frustration from his personality and how he dealt with things in the past, so yes, that might have been a misjudgement on my part.
Also, 1.) I always thought Kid was more intelligent and logical… especially comparing his solo (with the weapons, of course) missions to Maka’s, he always seemed to pull of the best strategies. 2.) What do you mean? 3.) Well, you got that point right, I suppose. 4.) They kind of… have the same amount of issues - black blood, Eibon, etc etc.

Nah, that’s cool, anyone would forget stuff if they haven’t see it in awhile, and having Ep 32 be filler doesn’t help much. Glad I could help.
1.) Actually in 2 out of 3 missions we saw Kid in he did pretty badly as far as Leadership logic and tactics went.
In Ep 3 he let a crimmial getaway because he was too busy posing, in Ep 16, he failed finish off Nidhogg (Ghost that was with the Ship) and catch Crona due to his OCD. Only in Ep 30 did complete his mission(getting the Demon Tool from the train) with out too many mishap from complianting about irrevlant things. So while he’s much better at it than, B*S, Maka clearly has the most focus.
4.) The Black Blood won’t affect Soul and her if they don’t ask for it, and it’s more Soul’s issue since it’s in him. Maka’s problem’s stem more for the fact that sometimes she can be reckless, depending on the situation.

1.) But Kid’s OCD issues are pretty much for comic relief, isn’t it? I know it’s part of his character and all, but I doubt it would actually be an obstacle if it was getting much more serious (but that would be hilarious, a joke that never seems to get old). But I suppose that’s a plus that’s a plus for Maka, because she doesn’t seem to have any character faults that are as bad as Kid’s obsessive compulsiveness and B*S’s arrogance. I still think Kid has an advantage when it comes to intelligence and logic, though, because he seems to be the most knowledgeable between all of them and, while Maka has the most focus, I doubt she can actually device a foolproof plan when the time comes.
4.) But the black blood (and that red demon thing, what the hell is that called, anyway?) always comes to bite them in the butt as an issue every time they’re fighting, so I count it as a hindrance, as well.

1.) Yeah it is for the most part, but they still get in his way. I agree that it’s fun seeing him spazing out, but it doesn’t do well for his reliability in more delicate issues that require a clear head that isn’t easily distracted, by other things. Maka is not perfect either, but she at things like analyzations and observesations which is further increased by her strong Soul Perception, she seems be the best of the 3. Knowledgewise, I don’t see a real difference between two here, it more about effectiveness, and Maka afterall still the only one to have gotten 99 souls, so it show that she less prone to screw ups, not that she can’t.
4.) Indeed, but I was refering more Maka, Kid and B*S personalities and actions during situations.

Actually the OCD can become a serious issue as seen when they were trying to stop Kishin from getting revived and Kid got caught up and was actually close to going insane. My main problem is that Maka is far and away the weakest member of the team as she has no aces up her sleeve, can barely hold her own, and it would seem that Soul would be far better with a more competent partner. Yes she gets that one move later but at that point both Kid and Black Star have multiple.

Maka is the weakest, but that’s only relavitely speaking. B*S only edges out her because he attack with his SoulWavelength, and Kid is a God and will be strongest Character series just because of that. Maka can definitely hold her own she did when fought Sid and Free (the same fight which B*S knocked himself out) and later on in the Clown Arc. Witch Hunter and later Demon Hunter and Striaght Hunter are her aces in the same why B*S Shadow Star and Kata’s are his, and Death Cannon being Kid’s. Most of Maka SR’s focus on power while B*S does speed mostly, so they are doing two very different things.

I forgot she has Whilwind Cut also and Kid only has one SR, and that’s temparory.
