Tales of the Abyss - 02

This episode, we get Jade, Anise, Ion… and most importantly, Cheagles. What are Cheagles? They are these small rodents with huge eyes and annoying voices. They also have a leader whose eyebrows has grown into another pair of ears. Actually, as much as I’m making it sound like I hate them, I actually think they’re very cute… even though there’s been more than one occasion where I wanted Mieu to just shut up.

Summary: It turns out that Tear and Luke were sent all the way to another continent, where Luke’s family is an enemy. Noooo. The bridge they could have used to be sent back was broken down by the battleship that they passed. They have no choice but to stay at a small village which is famous for selling food. Luke, being the brainbless fool that he is, takes what he wants without paying. Because, back in his manor, he didn’t need to pay to have dinner. Anyway, they think he’s a thief so they send him to the mayor’s(?) place, where Colonel Jade is. Jade confirms that they aren’t the thieves the town has been way of, because they just chased the real ones away.

It turns out that the ones who have been stealing the food are Cheagles, so Luke insists on going to the forest to solve it, because he had a grudge for being called a thief. Tear and Luke go to the forest the next day, to find Ion fending off a group of monsters with his magic. His body is weak though, so Luke agrees to just let him tag along. They arrive at the home of the Cheagles, and Mieu is introduced. Mieu is a small baby who accidentally burnt a forest where Ligers (wolf-like creatures) had lived. Because of this, the Ligers make them steal food for them. Luke and company go to the Liger’s territory with Mieu (who can talk now because of an enchanted bracelet). Mother Liger turns out to be nesting, so she’s particularly grouchy.

That leads to a fight that Luke and Tear can’t win, but Jade arrives and finishes the fight in a second. Jade arrived with Anise, who he whispers something to. Just when all of them are leaving the forest, a group of soldiers arrive, arresting Luke and Tear - according to Jade’s commands.

Impressions: I’m… surprised with myself. I actually liked Anise. She was pretty cute and perky, and I don’t usually like such hyper, immature girls. I thought her attached relationship with Ion was pretty cute. I didn’t like her so much in the game, because her voice actor made her sound like she was giving a lecture all the time. I pretty much liked the voice she had here better, and the goofy way she can’t seem to stay put is pretty entertaining to watch. Seriously, all she does is run around, hahaha.

So, I know most of you guys are into blushing look. I think you got more of it. Luke sure does blush a lot. :) Same goes for Tear. Kinda cute.

I’m still in love with the ending theme. And the way they put the previews for next episode is really nice.
