To Aru Majutsu no Index - 02

Well, I finally saw it - and I liked it, like I predicted. It’s such a shame because what I liked so much in the first episode was how Touma and Index conversed, but we didn’t get much of that here since Index is bleeding to death and is in some sort of trance. Even though the episode was basically a fight, I thought the animation was really good. It seemed like too much of an easy win for Touma, though.

This episode was mostly Touma going against a mage named Steel Magnis, whose power is magic and who summons a fire demon when he realizes he can’t use normal fire against Touma’s right hand. Touma learns from Index (who’s in a trance the whole fight) that he can defeat the demon if he gets ride of the enchantments. He does this by turning on the water sprinklers, because the enchantments are written on photocopy paper and the ink desolved under the water. With a punch, Touma defeats Steel Magnis.
Index says that she does have a spell that can heal her wounds, but only normal people without special abilities can use it. Touma decides to bring her to Komoe (the teacher). When he does, Index asks him to leave because his right hand would interfere with the magic. Just outside, a girl is watching over them.

Impressions: I guess for Touma’s ‘first’ fight it would have been okay, but the mage was defeated after a punch he didn’t even try to block. I’m also confused about Touma… all his hand does is negate everything, and is his attack going to be simple punches all throughout the series? That doesn’t sound like too much. I kind of feel bad for him. I hope he learns some new stuff.
I blinked a bit when I saw Komoe’s room. She had empty beer bottles and cigarettes all over her apartment. I thought she was a child prodigy at first, but I found out that she was just some really small adult. That’s pretty cool, I think. Touma’s pretty close to her, isn’t he? He practically just barged into her apartment with no questions. Even though he was carrying a bleeding girl on his back, that was pretty rude of him, hahah. Actually, I think it just shows how seemingly close he is with Komoe, which is something interesting.

I was extremely surprised to see Komoe’s room full of cigarettes and such… she seemed like such an innocent child… and that Steel Magnis guy is pitiful. He relies too much on magic and not man power

Aizen:
I know, that’s exactly how I felt. I thought Komoe was the kind of character with a room full of stuffed toys. Hahaha. And yeah, Steel Magnis guy was very pitiful. He practically just stared at the fist coming to meet his face.

The teacher is really adorable, but I don’t like it how the bad guy lost to a punch either. Even so, Touma is so cool
