To Aru Majutsu no Index - 04

Ugh, I’m late for this episode (and all other episodes this week) but I guess it didn’t hurt too this time because it wasn’t that good of an episode in the first place. And, uhm, the art is declining. Such a pity because it was really good in the first episode. The plot is also starting to become more complicated, which is kind of good, because it’s one of the things that’s actually catching my interested. Also, Kanzaki Kaoru enters, and so does fanservice. Uhm, yey?

More about Index’s real background is explained. It turns out that every year, her memory has to be restarted since her brain can only use a small percentage for everyday life. Since the books take up 85%, she can’t use more than 15% for the rest of her memories. Hence, restarting every one year. It turns out that the two people who are after her aren’t magicians who want her books, but are actually from the same organization as her and used to be her friends. After watching her restart her memories year after year, they decided they couldn’t do it anymore since it was too painful. In the end of the episode, they confront Touma and Index in Komoe’s house, and Index still thinks they’re enemies, begging them not to hurt Touma anymore.

Again, I still think they could do much better during action scenes. While it was a step up, it was still quite dull. I also hated the dialogue between Touma and Kanzaki. “Why hurt an innocent…”, “if she was really your friend…”, “I couldn’t see that way anymore…”, ugh, improve the dialogue, please. It’ll turn out a generic battle where the opponent gets a sudden epiphany. Oh, wait. I think that’s exactly what happened. |:
