To Aru Majutsu no Index - 06
The introduction(?) is finally done, and the next arc is going to begin next episode. Hurray, because this looks like something that will get better as each arc passes. The ‘climax’ was supposed to be the first half of this episode, but I didn’t enjoy it all that well because the dialogue was terrible, with the lengthy speeches and how they suddenly reach their goal after morphing working together. The second half was really good though, even if it didn’t have any action.
The hospital scene between Index and Touma was the best. Even if the animation too another dive this episode, I thought it being so clever totally made up for it. The switching of angle between Touma and Index every time they spoke was really good, and my eyes went huge when Index actually said “Don’t you remember that Index loved you?” (and it isn’t weird for Japanese people to refer to them in third person, but is the line used in the subs because Touma’s next line is “What’s an Index?”). Unless she said it in a different sense, that was a confession just there, haha.
When Touma said he remembered everything, I was surprised because I remember him losing his memories in the manga - turned out he was just lying because he didn’t want her to cry. I don’t know a thing about the novel, but if that was an anime-only scene… go, anime staff! Really good work.
