Minto no Ie

I haven’t seen the light novel or the manga, so I don’t share the same sentiments as everyone else about the missing scenes and how it could have been better. Now I kinda want to at least read the manga… but I don’t know, coming from someone who knows nothing about Toradora! apart from what I’ve seen so far, I thought it was pretty good. Honestly, I think I’m in love with the idea of Ryuuji + Taiga.

I’m not sure if I’m going to be writing an in-depth summary in the future, haha. There’s a really good one right here, which filled me up quite nice even before I watched the Raw. But, in short, this episode was basically Taiga trying (and failing) telling Kitamura her feelings. That’s also hampered by the fact that when Ryuuji was trying to cheer her up, everyone thought that the two of them were together (Taiga takes care of this issue by what seems like a very powerful classroom bashing). By the end of the episode, she finally tells Kitamura how she felt, only to be turned down because Kitamura noted the way she spoke about Ryuuji.

Impressions: Err, uh. First things first: I don’t like the OP. It’s sung by the voice actors of Taiga, Minori and Ami (who hasn’t been introduced yet). While I always found it pretty cool to have an OP/ED that was sung by the ‘characters’, it was kind of a bland song, for me - or maybe I was just expecting more?

Anyway, I liked this episode. I really do think Ryuuji and Taiga go really good together. They have the kind of relationship where the girl is being ‘tamed’ by the guy. Ryuuji’s so patient, which makes his connection with Taiga really adorable, because he seems how to know how to take care of her and cheer her up. For example, just ’somehow’ being close by when Taiga tripped, and he grabbed her tray/hands to keep everything from spilling and probably her face from hitting the floor. He also caught her when she fell down the stairs. Actually… he saved her ass a lot of times this episode, didn’t he?

I’m also glad Minori and Kitamura were given more character. I was so confused when Kitamura kept laughing insanely when he thought Ryuuji and Taiga were together. I think I saw a spoiler in some comment somewhere, but I’m not going to repeat it here… it did explain it for me, though, and it was a pretty good storyline. Or did they mention it in this episode? I might have missed it. |:
