Minto no Ie

What the hell happened to the animation? It’s been really good so far, and then stuff like this happens. It was an okay episode, just giving more depth to Minori’s character. I’m kind of sad at whoever worked on this episode. They don’t seem to care - I mean, there was a frikking ladder in the storage room if any of you noticed. Who makes a ‘trapped in a storage room and only a ladder can save us - oh no, there’s no ladder’ kind of scene and puts a ladder in the background? One that none of the characters bother to notice. (Edit: Oh wait, I just rewatched the scene and realized that it wasn’t exactly a ladder they could have used. It still looked weird at first, though.)

The episode was focused on Minori and her hundreds of part-time jobs. Taiga stabs Ryuuji in the eyes a lot for staring at Minori, who’s overly cheerful and seems very efficient in everything that she likes to do. Ryuuji and Taiga somehow agree to help out in one of her jobs. But, while Taiga is off delivering goods with a bike (which is difficult, because she can’t ride on) Ryuuji and Minori get locked in a storage room.

Taiga is seen by Kitamura, how thinks she can ride a bike now. He says that he knew she couldn’t before because he used to watch her a lot. After he leaves, Taiga tries to force herself to learn how to ride the bike, but it wouldn’t really matter because Kitamura won’t be watching anymore. Back in the storage room, Ryuuji realizes that Minori is trembling despite saying that she’s not scared. He realizes her facade. They stack boxes so that Ryuuji can reach the window, but when he does, Taiga’s furious face is staring back at him. Taiga jumps in and smashes Ryuuji with her feet, pushing the ladder she used away - trapping the three of them inside again.

Impressions: I hope the animation is back to being awesome again next week, since it’s one of the things that makes Toradora! perfect.

Anyway, I think Minori’s character is finally growing on me. At the start of the episode where she was singing that annoying baseball song, I couldn’t feel but be irritated at her - again. She’s so happy all the time to the point of coming off us such a ditz, so when she started shaking out of fright… well, that was some pretty good character development. Even if it was a bit of a cliche.

Hahah, I actually thought Taiga was jealous which was why she kept stabbing Ryuuji in the eyes. I’m sure it’s also because she cares for Minori, but I think a little bit of her is doing out of jealousy. I did like the scene where she tried to force herself to ride the bike, after being upset at what Kitamura said to her - that he used to watch her a lot. It was also nice to see Ryuuji understand Minori more. Honestly, I think that kind of thing would just make him admire her more..?

Also, according to the preview, Ami is coming next episode. Finally. I think what we need now is a fresh new character.
