Toradora! - 06
Ami is probably… the most complex character in Toradora! so far, haha. It’s actually giving me a challenge to figure her out, because honestly, I thought she was just fooling around with Ryuuji every time she flirted with him (and any other male character) - then it turns out that she might actually like him, and I’m confused, because Taiga’s anger makes her seem more jealous than just the “keep away from my friends” kind of anger. And Minori! She can be kind of mean too, huh? Kitamura, on the other hand is… just Kitamura.
Like I said, Taiga seems jealous. Kind of surprised because I thought she wouldn’t start showing ‘feelings’ until way more into the show, because I got the impression that the kind of relationship she’d get with Ryuuji (romantically) is the type that would start showing in the very end. I was wrong, I guess. Apparently, they’re showing hints this early on - unless she’s just that pissed that Ryuuji, her loyal dog, is being way too nice to her enemy.
I liked seeing Taiga’s reaction, though. It makes everything much more interesting. I was kind of surprised that Ami would show that much fear against a common stalker who takes pictures and doesn’t make that much effort to hide. He didn’t even look creepy. Ami went through all that trouble to get away from someone who would probably leave her just from one confrontation. She could have even asked her parents for help, because the ’solution’ she chose was a bit too.. huge? She just came off as a real coward (who probably watches too much television), but the way she handled it in the end was really cool. Just thought the stalker could have been more intense or creepier, just so Ami’s intense fear could have been justified better. That’s all.
